The purpose of the workshop is to create an awareness of the increasing importance of competitive intelligence for businesses in South Africa. CI can provide a basis for sound business decisions.
Succeeding in today's competitive business environment demands innovative approaches and fresh thinking. One of the key aims of the workshop is to involve and to provide decision-makers, managers and business unit leaders with the insight to understand competitive intelligence and how it differs from other streams of management information practices.
The workshop offers an introduction to the concepts of competitive intelligence (CI) and also provides an overview of the CI process. The workshop offers those professionals new to CI a comprehensive introduction to CI. An interactive teaching process is followed, including traditional lectures, discussions, individual and group activities, practical exercises and a case study.
CI is unique to all other company information. It provides information and a mechanism to look at and project the future, otherwise unavailable to executives. This involves keeping track of competitors, their plans, intentions, customers, adjusting own plans, etc, vital for survival in a global economy.
Most of the leading corporations in the world have intelligence capabilities; some have very sophisticated departments, using intelligence to provide insight and to make the right business decisions.
South African companies and leaders are gradually realising that they need to adapt their attitudes and learn from their international counterparts to improve their competitiveness.
The changes in the global economy, the digital age, new markets and uncertainty have all contributed to the need for new business tools and different strategies to enhance the future.
You should participate if you are involved in business development, marketing and market research, brand, product and sales management, competitive intelligence, business intelligence, mergers and acquisitions, research and development, planning and general management, IT and information protection.
The core of this workshop is organised along the lines of the competitive intelligence process, the requirements (planning and direction), collection, processing, analysis and dissemination of information.
The workshop includes a brief look at the competitive nature of the business environment as well as the tools required to develop a competitive intelligence programme.
The workshop is presented over two working days and can also be offered at a client's location. A minimum of ten (10) attendees are then required.
The workshop is not assessed in any way and a certificate of attendance will be issued on successful completion of the programme. Guest speakers are used and attendees are required to do practical work.
